Shrimp Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 5 cups water
  • Shells from 2 pounds of shrimp
  • 1 piece of onion
  • 1 celery stalk
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Ice and cold water

For the sauce:

  • 2 cups Clamato juice
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup shrimp broth (from cooking the shrimp)
  • Juice of 3 limes
  • A splash of Maggi seasoning sauce
  • A splash of Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Spanglish Asadero Garlic & Lime seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • A splash of orange soda

Additional ingredients:

  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • ½ small onion, diced
  • 1 large handful of cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1 cucumber, diced

Garlic & Lime

Directions
  1. In a large pot, bring 5 cups of water to a boil with the shrimp shells, onion, celery, and salt.
  2. Once the water starts boiling, remove the shrimp shells, onion, and celery from the pot.
  3. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp and cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately transfer them to a bowl filled with ice and water to stop the cooking process.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the Clamato juice, ketchup, and 1 cup of the shrimp broth.
  6. Add the lime juice, Maggi seasoning sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Spanglish Asadero Garlic & Lime seasoning, black pepper, salt, and orange soda. Mix well.
  7. Add the diced tomatoes, onion, cilantro, avocado, and cucumber. Stir to combine.
  8. Add the cooked shrimp and mix everything together.
  9. Serve chilled and enjoy a delicious and refreshing shrimp cocktail
