Ingredients
- 5 cups water
- Shells from 2 pounds of shrimp
- 1 piece of onion
- 1 celery stalk
- Salt, to taste
- 2 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Ice and cold water
For the sauce:
- 2 cups Clamato juice
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup shrimp broth (from cooking the shrimp)
- Juice of 3 limes
- A splash of Maggi seasoning sauce
- A splash of Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon Spanglish Asadero Garlic & Lime seasoning
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- A splash of orange soda
Additional ingredients:
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- ½ small onion, diced
- 1 large handful of cilantro, finely chopped
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1 cucumber, diced
Directions
- In a large pot, bring 5 cups of water to a boil with the shrimp shells, onion, celery, and salt.
- Once the water starts boiling, remove the shrimp shells, onion, and celery from the pot.
- Add the peeled and deveined shrimp and cook for 3 minutes.
- Remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately transfer them to a bowl filled with ice and water to stop the cooking process.
- In a large bowl, combine the Clamato juice, ketchup, and 1 cup of the shrimp broth.
- Add the lime juice, Maggi seasoning sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Spanglish Asadero Garlic & Lime seasoning, black pepper, salt, and orange soda. Mix well.
- Add the diced tomatoes, onion, cilantro, avocado, and cucumber. Stir to combine.
- Add the cooked shrimp and mix everything together.
- Serve chilled and enjoy a delicious and refreshing shrimp cocktail
